This painting is homage to the great Australia painter Lloyd Rees who was one of our lecturers during my final years at architecture school. One of his great lessons was one must edit out a scene and paint what is best for the picture. This along with abstracting the scene to find the female form in the landscape. I have spent years studying many artists and Rees’s drawings and later landscapes are amongst the most beautiful. This picture is simply of a distant ridge line its silhouette veiled in the setting sun and the colour of things when you half close your eyes. Oil 1.22x.76m
