This painting was done sitting in the avenue of trees behind the Neilsen Park pavilion. It is quite simply one of the most beautiful spots I know. During normal times I often paint here with a group of fellow artists trying to capture and simplify the beautiful entanglement of branches leaves and foliage. Using a pallet of impressionist colours the various yellows and greens have also been broken up on the surface using turps. This helps reveal the linen canvass which in itself is a beautiful shade that gives depth and compliment to the other colours.
